I am the co-founder of Hawaii Guide and Soil Wrangler. I don't see a line between code and canvas—both are ways to bring connection and rhythm to the world. My work helps businesses grow by cultivating genuine communities.
A southerner with a Hawaiian heart, I've carried a sense of wanderlust since my days as a military kid moving through the southeast. These days, my husband John and I pour ourselves into the companies we run together—from digital travel publishing to helping small businesses find their voice online. There's a real joy in building something alongside someone you love.
When the laptops close, you'll find us tending to our little flock of feathered and furry friends, getting our hands in the garden, or working on whatever creative project has caught my eye—a painting, a DIY build, a new recipe to try. Life is better with paint on your hands and good company nearby.
Here you will find my musings on various topics that are of interest to me.
There is a certain stillness that happens right before an idea takes shape. If you are a creative person, you know what I mean, that gentle pull toward something you cannot quite name yet, but you can feel it.

Victoria Derrick - January 29, 2026Every creative space needs a little chaos. Ours comes with feathers.
Behind every project, painting session, and late-night brainstorm, our fids keep the day chaotic and colorful. They don't know a thing about deadlines, but they're experts at making sure we never take ourselves too seriously.
They may not have LinkedIn profiles, but they run this place.
