Growing a Regenerative Gardening Brand
How my brand, marketing, e-commerce, and operations work helped grow the family-run regenerative gardening business John and I co-founded.
Overview
John and I co-founded Soil Wrangler, a family-run regenerative gardening shop that we operate together in South Carolina. John built the original site and developed the initial products. The business sells red wigglers, worm-casting and biochar soil amendments, composting supplies, and practical tools for gardeners who want to build healthier living soil.
My Role
Co-Founder, Brand, Marketing & Operations. I work across brand direction, product marketing, e-commerce merchandising, content, customer communication, and day-to-day operations. Because it is a physical-product business, the work moves constantly between the screen and the real world: product positioning, packaging, inventory, fulfillment, photography, education, and customer questions all shape the brand.
The Challenge
Soil health can become technical quickly, while many gardeners simply want to know what to buy, how to use it, and whether it will help. The challenge was to build a brand that respected the science without making regenerative gardening feel inaccessible, then connect that education to products people could understand and use confidently.
Strategy
We built the brand around a simple idea: from bin to garden. My work helps carry that foundation into the customer-facing brand. Educational content explains the role of worms, castings, biochar, and closed-loop composting; the shop turns that knowledge into a practical product path. Soil Wrangler and the Garden & Bloom publication support one another, giving customers both the supplies and the context needed to use them well.
What I Led
- Brand positioning and customer-facing product stories
- E-commerce merchandising and product-page direction
- Product marketing, photography, and campaign creative
- Educational content connecting soil science to everyday gardening
- Customer communication and hands-on business operations
- Coordination between Soil Wrangler products and Garden & Bloom content
- Human-led, AI-assisted workflows for product content and routine operations
Results
Soil Wrangler now operates as both a local and nationwide gardening business: products are available through South Carolina hubs and selected local retail placement, while the e-commerce shop ships across the United States. The brand has expanded beyond a single amendment into worms, soil-building products, composting supplies, kits, tools, and educational resources, all tied together by a consistent regenerative-gardening point of view.

Lessons & Takeaways
Physical products expose every gap between a promise and an operation. A good product page cannot compensate for confusing packaging, weak fulfillment, or education that stops at the sale. Soil Wrangler has taught me to treat brand, product, content, and customer experience as one continuous system—and to make the technical parts useful without sanding away what makes the work interesting.
